Chess Grand Master Wesley So Wesley Barbasa So (born October 9, 1993) is a Filipino-American chess grandmaster and current World Fischer Random Chess Champion. He is a three-time Filipino Chess Champion and a two-time U.S. Chess Champion, in 2017 and 2020. On the March 2017 FIDE rating list, he was ranked number two in the world and had an Elo rating of 2822, making him the fifth-highest rated player in history. A former chess prodigy, So became the youngest player to pass a 2600 Elo rating in October 2008, breaking the record previously held by Magnus Carlsen. This record has since been broken by John M. Way back elementary siguro mga grade 5 ako, crush ko yung anak ng kumare ng nanay ko at kababata ko na rin... crush na crush ko talaga siya, kasi siya lang ang cute sa lahat ng ka age namin. Tapos naisipan ko na mag bigay sa kanya ng love letter. Ginagawa ko ang love letter ng sekretong malupit habang ako lang ang nasa loob ng bahay namin. Sabay biglang tinawag ako ng nanay ko, nataranta ako at hinulog ko ang letter sa likod ng cabinet namin. Hanggang sa nakalimutan ko na yung letter, pag uwi ko galing sa school pinag kakantiyawan ako ng mga kapitbahay namin na "uuuuuyyyy! may crush ka pala kay RODEL! OMG! paano nila nalaman?! pag pasok ko sinabihan ako ng nanay ko na may pa love letter love letter ka pang nalalaman! inatupag mo pa yun kesa mag aral ka! sabi sa akin ng nanay ko! sabi ko saan niyo naman nakita ang love letter? sabi niya diyan! sa likod ng cabinet ng mag linis ako! nanlumo ako... sabi ko mama saan na ang love letter, sabay sabi niya "ayun binigay ko sa kumare ko pinabasa ko sa kanya! pinabasa ko sa mga tao diyan lalo na kay rodel! feeling ko hihimatayin ako sa nangyari... di ko alam kung lalabas pa ba ako o hindi na. Pinag uusapan na ako ng lahat ng kapitbahay namin. May nag sabi pang "ke babae mong tao ikaw pa ang nag bigay ng love letter! ang bata bata mo pa. Kaya mula noon di na ako nakikipag laro sa labas lagi na lang ako sa loob ng bahay, everytime na lalabas ako palagi na lang ako pinag tatawanan ng mga tao.
