  1. Ok....I'm such a foodie. My voluptuousness is proof of it.

For affordable steaks, I have two that I frequent. 1) blake's near Makati med. Less than 500... Cooked the way you like it . With sides.  2) Mark's in Glorietta 3. Less than 500 too, inclusive of mashed potato. They also sell really good ice cream since they are an ice cream shop with a restaurant on the side.

For the bit more expensive steaks, Mamou (?) in pasig, near estancia mall. Would set you back 3-4k but definitely worth it. Don't order sides too expensive.

  2. We just ate at romantic baboy to continue my mom's birthday celeb... I'm full and satiated.

Now, I want coffee. We just got home and the coffee press I bought from SB last year is heaven sent. I have my Verona steeping in the press. 5 more minutes and I'll drink it

Verona tastes great any which way you take it. Take it black from the press and you taste the hint cocoa. Put in a bit of cream and it enhances the chocolate flavor notes. Add sugar and the coffee shines through. Yum..  this is a good day indeed.

  3. Can we post if the recommendations are already open and if you have an estimate of dining cost per person?

Mostly, the samgyup places are open now. I'm not sure about the buffets and if the prices have changed due to the current world crisis.

I have been to the following:

Sumo Niku Glorietta 4 - open now during mall hours. Will set you back 500.

review: meat is still good. Service is still bad. They changed their side dishes and they are no longer as good as before. So the experience pre-pandemic is definitely better because the sides were very good.

Romantic baby soledad pair - 500/head.

Review: meat is good but they give you very little per "order" so you might want to get several orders of the same meat at the same time. Sides are also still good. However, they will only serve one set of sides to be shared by the table. I'm not sure if this is compliant with current health regulations. If asked why they only give one set of sides, it is because there is no more space at the table.. as per their staff.  Customer service is also bad but the management is worst because they berate their staff in front of the customers.

    Samgyupmasarap sm bicutan - 500+vat.

Staff is fast. Meat is better than samgyupsalamat. The sides are incomplete and they also run out of certain kinds of meat so inventory management is not so good.

  4. I remember The Labyrinth.. I think it haunted me for a long time... It was memorable for me because of the "Escher stairs" scene. It was scary and fascinating at the same time.  My parents left me to my own devices. So I can operate the betamax/vhs players on my own and I just pick whatever sounds interesting from my parents' stash of tapes.

PS the first few posts on this thread are of "scary" movies. Were we all scarred/traumatized as kids? 🙂

  5. When I was in college, I had around 2k+ books in my "collection"..

Yes I hoarded. The books include those raunchy romance novels, sweet valley high series (I had over a hundred), choose your own adventure. Things I collected during my pre teen days.  Then, I started collecting classics in high school (reading requirements) .. shakespeare, jane austen, george elliot.  Bought science books too. Sherlock holmes series. Victor hugo. Catcher in the rye.

Come college, I was reading more engineering and mathematics textbooks. But I read 6 fiction books a month and that added to my collection. Jeffrey archer, james clavell, clancy, etc.

I had megaboxes and megaboxes full of my old books.

Then my mom had the great idea of doing a general cleaning and I had to get rid of everything... Except for very few select pieces. So I kept my harry potter books and the rest I had to sell at a garage sale or donate.

Now I just have ebooks, but starting to rebuild my physical "library".. I am now reading "Originals" by Adam Grant because I'm a grown up.

I don't have time for games right now.. but if I were to go back to gaming I would pick this. I've been looking at it for quite some time and finding the right excuse to go back to gaming.

Unfortunately, I'm still in my "adulting" phase.

I may find an excuse soon as my personal laptop is at it's breaking point (literally the bottom case cracked and I can see all it's parts now)

  7. I will post first.. as I have been subject to a slew of insults my whole life

Aunt: alam mo dapat magpapayat ka, mag make up ka, magpaganda ka. Di ka mapropromote nyan.

Me (in my head): I'm allergic to makeup and at most I can only wear lipstick. I was perfectly ok with my body until people started insulting me for it. And lastly, I thought promotions and career growth are based on merits, not looks.
