Nakakalungkot!

UP is the only place in the PH with a sufficient space or ground to massively organized towards a certain cause with out any permit and that the police keep thier distance( though spying is real), the media covers the anti-government protest but not the ''other'' protest by non-partisan cause oriented groups. The thing is that if communism is the enemy then take it by the horn and not by the tail.

BEKENEMENSER!

With all due respect, again ... we've blown this out of proportion.  Like it or not, UP has to sit down with the DND to resolve this.

Academic freedom is still there.. What's the issue?will they close the school...

Academic freedom is just one factor in the equation.Another issue is the one sided termination of ''a binding'' 32 years agreement between two seperate entity, another issue is the backwards mentality of the government towards free-speech and assembly. You cannot just leave your partner of 32 years just because she is talking too much on how you rule the house if i may put it in a more simple perspective.

You may be right. However, the chillling effects that this BRUHAHA is creating will last long after this administration is gone.

Let's set aside the other issues being raised.  Bottom line, officially, what are the reasons for the DND dissolving the agreement?  UP should focus on answering those and nothing more.

Anything that are not related to the official reasons, are just noise.  Let's simplify the issue; otherwise, if we bring in so many "what if" situations into the discussion, nothing gets resolved.

Then we will be diving in the ocean of ''lies and deception'' if we considers only what the DND is claiming. How can UP answer a simple quetion of ''Are you breeding communism in your campus''? if DND has it all figure out(atleast in thier view it is a big YES already). In my opinion there is no what if in this scenario as all fingers point in one direction which is a systematic silencing of the academe and the people within the institution and beyond. Plain and simple.

I do not agree with systematic silencing of the academe. It is the academe itself who wants to silence other beliefs. The academe claims and defends academic freedom but they are the ones who are devoid of that. Only leftists have a voice in the academe. If you are a left then you are IN. Centrists and rightists ideas are not welcome and do not have a voice in the academe even if they are the majority.
